A No-Hitter is an incredible accomplishment, there were only 7 last season including Arrietas first, and something sports casters and writes dream about being part of. Last night against the Cincinnati Reds Jake Arrieta threw the second of his career.

9 innings / 0 hits / 0 runs / 4 walks / 6 strikeouts

Now yes it was against the lackluster Reds that are pretending they are ‘rebuilding’ but still even a blind squirrel can find a nut every now and then. I think it might have helped that the Cubs also scored 16 runs that game and had the very very rare Homerun cycle (Solo HR, 2 run HR, 3 run HR, and a GrandSlam HR) they even added a second Solo shot just to make sure their point was driven home. On both sides of the ball they were just on fire, which is not really a surprise as everyone has projected them getting to the World Series this season.

To me though, the better stories about this are that a Cubs fan somehow got on the field and was celebrating with the team on the pitching mound and after the game the Dodgers twitter account was consoling the Reds.

While albeit it was short, a Cubs fan stormed the field and was able to enjoy the celebration of a life time. Yup that dude in the white is not a player… So right after this shot Police rushed in and escorted him off the field (Probably sucker punched him too for getting past them in the first place). Still he got to be famous for like 15 seconds.

Then the Dodgers official twitter feed reached out to the Reds to offer support, since they were the team last season that Arrieta no-hit.

Aint Baseball grand 🙂
